Description
A fine British cavalry sabre. The blade has a reverse bevel on the last third, a rounded back, and is signed on the ricasso on the left: "Henry Wilkinson Pall Mall London". The blade features, in its fuller grooves on both sides, a fine floral etching and a crown. The weapon is mounted in iron, with a long-tailed, chequered pommel. The main crossguard branch splits into two secondary S-shaped arched strands and a coiled secondary branch joining the guard plate on either side. Forward-curving, tapered quillon with filigree wood, covered in shagreen. In its steel trolly scabbard with two rings mounted on a strap.
