Note: Drawn in 1807 and engraved in 1815 by Benedict Piringer born in Vienna in 1780 and died in Paris in 1826. One of the views is taken from Les Capucins and the other from Ile Arrault. These polychrome engravings are a rare record of what the city of Orléans was like in the early 19th century. Jacques Pierre François Salmon (1781-1855) was a history painter and landscape artist who studied under Jean Bardin and Jean Baptiste Regnault, and was a drawing teacher at the Lycée d'Orléans.
The Musée d'Orléans holds some of his works.
