Description
A Régence style silver bowl, hallmarked Minerve, richly decorated with friezes of foliate scrolls and palmettes on an amati background. The rim of the bowl is decorated with large shells and accolades ending in a fleuron. The lid is crowned with a moulded knob engraved with an antique profile. The whole is underlined by a frieze of gadroons.
The display case bears the hallmarks of Martial Gauthier, a master silversmith registered between 1888 and 1902 at 39 rue Rambuteau in Paris.
