Description
CHINA, late 19th/early 20th century - Six-leaf lacquer screen decorated with a lively silk route. From the left, a silk weaving scene with a dignitary and his lady against a caravan background. The right-hand side is decorated with a city in the background and figures taking tea next to a dromedary. The border is decorated with stylised motifs and flowers. The faces and bodies are enhanced with mother-of-pearl and bone.
