Charles-Edouard JEANNERET known as LE CORBUSIER (1887-1965) Woman with mirror, 1946-47 Oil pastel, scratch and graphite pencil Insolated paper, folds, tear reinforced with kraft paper on the back, edge tears, small chips and missing pieces 33.1 x 42 cm This drawing is very typical, technically and stylistically, of a small series of works (less than 10) that Le Corbusier produced in New York around 1947. All the drawings in this series are constructed along the diagonal of the sheet, which is very unusual for Le Corbusier. At the time, Le Corbusier was part of a group of ten international experts in New York charged with drawing up plans for the new headquarters of the United Nations.
