Description
An important pair of gilded bronze wall sconces, decorated with a bow and cascading ribbons ending in tassels, adorned with garlands of oak leaves, supporting three hunting horns forming the light arms (signs of wear – height approx. 80 cm).
19th century, Louis XVI style
Based on an original design created by the bronze casters Edmé Jean Gallien (1720–1797) and Pierre Bureaux (born 1728) for the drawing room at the Château de Chessy. The original design was reproduced by Claude Galle (1759–1815) and delivered on 23 December 1809 for the Salon de Compagnie at the Petit Trianon.
