The only comparable works are Combat de cavalerie (pen and brown ink, grey wash, 460 x 795 mm) in the Musée du Louvre (INV 25692, Recto) and La Bataille de Josué (pen and brown ink, bistre wash and white highlights, 235 x 554 mm), preparatory work for a fresco in the Palazzo del Quirinale in Rome. Our drawing is preparatory for a painting in the Galleria nazionale del Palazzo Corsini in Rome (Inv. 389). Expert : LAURENT CALES
