Description
CARTIER. Belle Epoque round easel clock in vermeil above 800°, gold, enamel and lined with ivory. On the obverse, the mauve guilloché enamel with scale ray motifs is underlined by white enamel fillets. The white enamelled dial features Roman numerals, Arabic numerals and platinum hands set with rose-cut diamonds. Under and on the easel is an 800/°°° silver winding mechanism in the form of a laurel bull. Sanglier title mark and EB master mark for Eugène Bako (registered between 1908 and 1923, 148 rue du Temple in Paris). Hand-wound mechanical movement (not guaranteed). Diameter 8 cm. Gross weight: 293.43 g. Crack (ivory). With its original case opening on two sides, sheathed on the outside in khaki green morocco (the insolated parts having turned light brown) with gilt irons. The interior, lined with cream silk, is signed "Cartier, Paris, London New York". On the outside is a label brought back from the Fasano Giojelleria boutique in Turin, Via Roma no. 325. With its CITES certificate n° FR2607800067-K dated 15/04/2026. Very similar models circa 1908-1910 appear in the book by Messrs O. Bachet and A. Cartier. Exceptional Objects". Bako made the vast majority of Cartier's clock cases from this period, and his hallmark is also found on small, particularly precious objects for the houses of Lacloche and Janesich.
