Description
CHARCOT, Jean-Martin (1825-1893). Autograph letter signed, addressed to Dureau. S.l., 8 March 1890. 1 p. ½ in-8. On the letterhead of "217, boulevard St-Germain", in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, address of the sumptuous Hôtel de Varengeville or Hôtel de Guerchy where Charcot lived. Envelope preserved with stamp and postmarks. The Iconography of the Salpêtrière, Richet, Féréol, mesmerism and Charcot Very interesting letter: "I hope you have seen Richet [Charles Richet (1850-1935), French physiologist, winner of the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1913, friend and colleague of Charcot] and that he has responded to your wishes. Is it against the rules for you to present the iconography of the Salpêtrière to the Académie? If this can be done, the presentation would be much more interesting than if I were to do it myself - otherwise Féréol [the doctor Félix Féréol (1825-1891)], my friend, I am sure, would gladly take charge of the presentation". He continued: "Have you received the 7 or 8 volumes of my incomplete works? I don't have any of the works on mesmerism that you suggest. I shall therefore accept them gratefully [...]". This is the presentation of the Nouvelle iconographie de la Salpétrière: clinique des maladies du système nerveux, (Paris, Lecrosnier et Babé, 1890) a publication directed by Jean-Martin Charcot with his illustrious colleagues: Charles Richet, Georges Gilles de La Tourette, Albert Londe, etc.
