Silky lambswool pile of the so-called ‘Kork’ quality (selected in spring)
On a cotton backing
Ruby-coloured field decorated with interlacing patterns of fine, curling stems and slender branches, featuring palmettes, flowers and foliage very finely rendered in polychrome in the style of a ‘thousand-flower’ mosaic.
Triple border, the main one being midnight blue with interlaced motifs of rows of floral bulbs and stylised foliage in the form of multicoloured stylised diamonds.
Early 20th-century piece from north-western Iran
