MAURICE PROST (1894–1967) ‘Pair of Tigers’ A rare bronze sculpture with a nuanced brown patina, medal-sized It rests on a stepped pyramidal plinth in Belgian black marble (probably a later addition) bearing the signature “M.Prost” Signed with the initials “MP” in intaglio on one of the front paws Model created around 1932 Private edition by Maurice Prost. Limited to around ten copies. H: 32 cm L: 83 cm D: 14.5 cm (restoration to one of the tails) Note: Model exhibited at the 1932 Salon des Artistes Français Exhibitions: - 1932 Samothrace Exhibition - 1939 Expo, Atelier de la Tombe, Issoire – listed in the catalogue under no. 21 – Bibliography: ‘Travaux Nord Africains, 20 May 1935’ for a similar model reproduced in an overview of the sculptor’s studio.
