MILITARIA: SET OF TWO DOCUMENTS: CERTIFICATE OF EXEMPTION FROM NATIONAL GUARD SERVICE on the grounds of a deformity of the left arm, dated 26 October 1870. Granted by the Pas-de-Calais Prefecture to Gaston Prévot, born on 10 August 1845(?) in Varennes and residing in Arras. Bears the Prefect’s stamp. ORDER TO INVESTIGATE issued by the Major-General commanding the 4th Army Corps of the 8th Military Division, against Jean Schneider, a 2nd-class cavalryman in the 7th Lancers Regiment, following a complaint dated 10 March 1866 for having stolen a pair of trousers from a cavalryman of the same regiment. Addressed to the Imperial Commissioner and drawn up in Lyon on 13 March 1866. (Stains, creases). Dimensions: 19.5 x 24.5 and 19.5 x 31.5 cm.
