Description
BORDEAUX - 1 bottle, Saint-Julien, Château Gruaud-Larose, 2nd Grand Cru Classé, probably 1865 or 1869. Extract from the history of the bottle as written on the back label (author René Pijassou, Professor Emeritus at the Université Michel de Montaigne, Bordeaux III):
In May 1991, the Gaspar Opération group discovered the wreck of a merchant ship in Indonesian waters. The Marie-Thérèse, a 503-ton three-masted barque from Bordeaux, was wrecked on 29 February 1872 in the Gaspar Strait during a voyage to Saigon. It was the discovery of the word Larose on a case board that led to the attribution of these bottles to Château Gruaud-Larose...'
Domed wax capsule, slightly damaged and with a crack. Slightly dirty label with a small tear at the lower edge. Back label slightly soiled with a detachment point at its lower left corner. Presence of a USA back label.
