AMERICA – Handwritten PASSPORT issued to JOHN GORDON, a native of BOSTON, shipwrecked on the coast of VENDÉE (85), from the vessel “La Jeune Périne”. The said passport was issued on 28 Floréal, Year VII (17 May 1799) by the municipal officials of Les Sables-d’Olonne, who signed it alongside two ship’s captains. Document entirely handwritten on laid paper. 29.5 x 21.5 cm. Condition B/C (a section is missing at the top right, cutting off a small part of the beginning of the text; the document is damaged).
