PARIS – “View of the PORTE ST DENIS in the city of Paris from the outside”. 17th century. Original etching by Israël SILVESTRE (1621–1691). Print on thin laid paper, bearing the address: “In Paris at Israel’s premises, at the home of Monsieur le Mercier, Goldsmith to the Queen, on Rue de l’Arbre Sec, near the Croix du Tiroir”. Margins. 10 x 17 cm for the subject; 18 x 26.3 cm overall. Condition A (re-margined at a later date; one rare small stain in the sky, otherwise in good condition).
