ALPES-MARITIMES (06) – “Surroundings of NICE”. 19th century. Original DRAWING (probably by Félix Benoist) in graphite, highlighted with white gouache, on vellum paper. Annotated in pencil at the bottom of the drawing: “Costumes of the women of Nice, reddish schist mountains, slate roofs; clearly indicate the villages on the heights [...]”. Provenance: From the collection of the Charpentier studio, run by Pierre-Henri (1788–1854) and his son Henri-Désiré (1806–1883), printers and publishers based in Paris, then in Nantes (from 1854). 23.5 x 32 cm. Condition A (rare small stains on the edges, in excellent condition).
