Description
LOIRE-ATLANTIQUE (44) – “Bride from NORT (Nort-sur-Erdre)”. TRADITIONAL COSTUME. 19th century. Original drawing (probably by Félix Benoist) in graphite, on mounted China paper. Titled in pencil in the bottom left-hand corner. Annotated “Small crown at the back of the headdress” in pencil at the bottom of the sheet. Provenance: Collection of the Charpentier workshop run by Pierre-Henri (1788–1854) and his son Henri-Désiré (1806–1883), printers and publishers based in Paris, then in Nantes (from 1854). 36 x 27.5 cm. Condition A (some soiling in the slightly dusty margins, rare foxing affecting the subject, foxing on the dusty reverse).
