MANCHE (50) – “Cherbourg, view from the Montagne du Roule”. 19th century. Original DRAWING by Félix Benoist in graphite on vellum paper. PREPARATORY DRAWING for the lithograph entitled “Cherbourg, view from the Montagne du Roule”, published in “La Normandie illustrée” by Charpentier. Inscribed “Cherbourg vue prise de la Montagne du R” in pencil in the bottom right-hand corner. Provenance: Collection of the Charpentier studio, run by Pierre-Henri (1788–1854) and his son Henri-Désiré (1806–1883), printers and publishers based in Paris, then in Nantes (from 1854). 27 x 40.8 cm. Condition A (good condition).
