MANCHE (50) – “Cerisy-la-Forêt Abbey (Manche)”. 19th century. Original graphite drawing by Félix Benoist (1818–1896) on mounted China paper. Preparatory drawing for the lithograph “Cerisy-la-Forêt Abbey”, published in “La Normandie illustrée” in Paris by Charpentier in 1852–54. Signed in pencil in the bottom left-hand corner. Provenance: Collection of the Charpentier studio run by Pierre-Henri (1788–1854) and his son Henri-Désiré (1806–1883), printers and publishers based in Paris, then in Nantes (from 1854). 27.2 x 36.5 cm. Condition A (minor handling marks on the edges, slightly dusty, otherwise in good condition).
