MANCHE (50) – “Church of Notre-Dame in St Lô”. 19th century. Original pencil drawing by Félix Benoist on mounted China paper. Inscribed “Eglise N. Dame à St Lô” in pencil in the bottom left-hand corner. PREPARATORY DRAWING for the lithograph published in the album “La Normandie illustrée”. Provenance: From the collection of the Charpentier workshop, run by Pierre-Henri (1788–1854) and his son Henri-Désiré (1806–1883), printers and publishers based in Paris, then in Nantes (from 1854). 33 x 24 cm. Condition A/B (edges slightly sun-faded and dusty, otherwise in good condition).
