PORTRAIT of King WILLIAM III (1650–1702), 1691. Etching by Romeyn de HOOGHE (1645–1708). Print on laid paper, published by Arnout Leers in 1692 in The Hague (2nd edition). Title page featuring, in the centre, an oval medallion bearing the effigy of William III, supported by a woman on the left and an angel on the right; several allegorical figures surround the medallion; the coat of arms of England appears in the left-hand corner; title of Govert Bidloo’s work, ‘Komste van Zyne Majesteit Willem III in Holland’ (The Hague, Arnold Leers: 1692).
