INFORMATION: Reviving a technique he had used since 1943, Picasso had created cut-outs of heads and silhouettes. In 1962, together with his friend the photographer André Villers, he mounted the cut-outs onto various photographs – 30 in total – thereby varying their effect and impact. The complete set of phototypes was published by Berggruen in the ‘Diurnes’ portfolio, printed in an edition of 1,000 copies.
