Cookery book Cookery book containing approx. 325 recipes for soups, casseroles, cakes, custards, potato, fish and meat dishes, etc. Circa 1924–1950. 372 (partly unnumbered) pages. pp., alphabetical index. 8° format. Contemporary half-leather binding with a label bearing the handwritten note ‘Peribeth’ (worn, scuffed, spine missing). With a handwritten dedication by C. Roth to Ibeth Adeneuer, dated Saarbrücken 1924. – Ibeth (i.e. Elisabeth Emma) Adeneuer (*1892) married the art historian Wilhelm Pinder (1878–1947) in Saarbrücken in 1924. - Further clippings, typescripts and handwritten recipes included. - Browned due to the paper, in places slightly stained. - Also included: a cookbook containing approx. 40 recipes in handwriting and printed clippings, mainly for cakes. Circa 1935–1973. Illustrated contemporary cloth binding with red edges and gold-stamped German title (soiled, stained). – Book block detached; some leaves stained; 1 leaf partly loose. - With index entries for ‘Soups, Vegetables, Sauces, Roasts, Fish, Salads, Poultry, Compotes, Main Courses, Drinks, Baked Goods, Starters, Miscellaneous’, some entries missing. - Handwritten dedication with a mounted portrait photograph from a mother to her daughter Dora, dated Ludwigsburg 1907. - In the appendix: notes on winter provisions for 1935 and 1938. 2 German cookbooks.
