Luc Lettres de Voyage. Nord-Express. With some 80 original full-page watercolour illustrations. 1910. 2 leaves, 83 pp. 4°. Red half-leather binding with gold-stamped spines (worn and bumped). A handwritten travelogue of a round trip through Northern Europe. The author’s accounts of his adventures are accompanied by artfully executed watercolours. On almost every page, the traveller’s descriptions are visually enhanced by watercolours ranging from small to large. His journey took him through, amongst other places, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Hamburg and Berlin, and he describes in detail which sights he visited each day. The watercolours depict, amongst other things, the Spanische Kade in Rotterdam, the island of Marken near Amsterdam, Vor Frelsers Kirke in Copenhagen, the Royal Palace in Stockholm and the Reichstag in Berlin. – Edges slightly browned. Overall, a very well-preserved and magnificently decorated travelogue. Contains approximately 80 full-page original watercolour drawings.
