Rare first edition of the Civil Code for Neuchâtel. - “The day after the Revolution, Piaget proposed drafting a Civil Code and a Criminal Code, inspired by French law … The Civil Code was adopted in parts between 1853 and 1855, without the initial provisions being called into question. As a synthesis between the old Neuchâtel law and the Napoleonic Code, it remained in force until the introduction of the Swiss Civil Code (1912)” (Bartolini et al. in DHS, 2017). - Included: L.
