+ ESTIMATE FOR ALL SETS, SCENOGRAPHY FOR THE 5 ROOMS AND NARRATIVE DESIGN:
This is a 35-minute immersive film written and approved by historians. It required the creation of costumes, the construction of sets and the hiring of actors. Certain special and sensory effects help to capture the audience’s attention.
The proposed script has been approved by historians and has received almost unanimous approval from the public. (Rated 4.7 to 4.8 out of 5).
It has been translated into four languages (4 versions).
The experience takes place across five rooms, four of which are immersive, with one dedicated to further exploration and temporary exhibitions.
The scenography is fully automated.
The film offers a sensory immersion through numerous lighting effects, spatialised sound, video projections onto the scenery; architectural ‘video mapping’ projections… or animated images (‘cinemagraphs’)…
The motorised room doors and sound effects (the movement of pulley mechanisms, ropes, the creaking of ship decks, the crashing of waves and the storm...) add a theatrical effect to the narrative.
1- Yggdrasil, the world tree of Norse mythology (Room 1):
When touched by visitors’ hands, the trees remain vibrant with sound and light.
A tribute to the work of the shipwright, the Treaty of St Clair-sur-Epte and the integration of the Northmen into the Franks.
2- The Cloister Scriptorium (Room 2):
This is the shipwright’s design office, responsible for all the preparations for an expedition conceived by William the Conqueror. Ingenious technical solutions are revealed, for example, for transporting horses and dismantling a fort.
It is the largest landing operation ever conceived to date.
3- On board the Mora (Room 3):
The ship is represented by its bow, stern, mast, shields and oars.
Navigation techniques are discussed.
4- The Normans’ conquest of the New World (Room 4):
Presentation of famous shipowners:
Jean Ango; Jean de Fleury (Captain who stole Aztec treasures).
And an exhibition of numerous old nautical charts.
5- In-depth information and temporary exhibitions (Room 5):
5 interactive screens allow visitors to explore periods of Normandy’s history in greater depth
