Description
POP STAR VAN DE SCHELPENHOEVE BWP (Belgian Warmblood) gelding – Dark chestnut Born 25 April 2015 UELN: 056002W00310712 Transponder: 967000009741226 Watch a video of Pop Star: https://youtu.be/0sl8y7IpIG0 Pedigree POP STAR VAN DE SCHELPENHOEVE is registered in the BWP (Belgian Warmblood) stud book. He is by: DIAMANT DE SEMILLY, a leading sire in international show jumping, consistently ranked amongst the world’s best breeding stallions; BUTTERFLY VAN DE BUNTE, by NARCOS II, a leading French sire who has left his mark on sport horse breeding. This pedigree combines power, respect for the bar and recognised sporting ability, qualities particularly sought after in show jumping. Description and presentation A dark chestnut horse, with an irregular white blaze on the head and several white socks on the legs. The photographs show a well-groomed horse with a glossy coat and in satisfactory physical condition. The conformation is harmonious and athletic: a long, well-angulated neck; correctly sloping shoulders; a firm back; a uniform topline; well-developed hindquarters; slender limbs with sufficient bone structure. Overall, this reflects a modern sport horse, with good frame and strength. Aptitudes and performance Given its pedigree, POP STAR VAN DE SCHELPENHOEVE belongs to a bloodline renowned for show jumping. His conformation confirms a marked sporting inclination, with a build suited to classical equestrian disciplines and, more specifically, show jumping. His passport contains several sporting entries and certifications attesting to his previous performance record. Serological tests carried out in October 2021 proved negative for anaplasmosis, Lyme disease, piroplasmosis (Babesia caballi and Theileria equi) and leptospirosis. The blood tests carried out in 2021, 2023 and 2026 appear, on the whole, consistent with a satisfactory general condition, with no major biochemical abnormalities detected. Previous veterinary records mention bilateral desmopathy or enthesopathy of the proximal suspensory ligaments of the fetlocks, more pronounced on the left, associated with moderate involvement of the deep branch of the lateral plantar nerve, in a horse described as having relatively straight hocks. The corresponding report stated that ‘the sporting prognosis is uncertain at this stage’, with persistent intermittent locomotor signs despite the treatments undertaken. The radiographic report dated 12 June 2026 completes this file. It concludes that there are radiographic findings of note, including inflammation of the distal interphalangeal joints of the feet, mild arthropathy of the front fetlocks (more pronounced on the left), mild arthropathy of the hocks (more pronounced on the right), and very mild arthropathy of the right pastern. The same report states that these findings must be considered in conjunction with the clinical examination and the horse’s sporting activity, and that they are commonly observed in 11-year-old show jumpers. Overall observation POP STAR VAN DE SCHELPENHOEVE appears to be a horse of fine quality, with particularly attractive pedigree and a pleasing conformation. He is in good condition and his general appearance is that of a well-looked-after sport horse. However, this horse has a documented history of locomotor lesions, comprising, on the one hand, damage to the proximal suspensory ligaments and a lateral plantar nerve branch as described in previous reports, and, secondly, radiographic changes to the joints identified in June 2026; the vet considered these to be consistent with the clinical context and compatible with findings frequently observed in a show jumping horse of this age.
