Description
1952 Jaguar XK120 ‘M’ Roadster French registration document Chassis No.: 672281 4-speed manual gearbox Mileage: 67,000 miles (approx.) Passed MOT From the private collection of Dr Phillipe Henon Unveiled in 1948 at the London Motor Show, the Jaguar XK120 marked a major turning point in the history of the British marque. A true showcase of Jaguar’s technological prowess, it owes its name to its claimed top speed of 120 miles per hour – an exceptional achievement for a production car of that era. With its elegant lines and sporty character, it quickly became a benchmark amongst post-war luxury cars. Produced until 1954, the XK120 was available in various body styles, including the OTS (Open Two Seater) version, which perfectly embodied the spirit of the British roadster. It captivates with its balance of performance, refinement and driving pleasure, whilst benefiting from the famous Jaguar XK straight-six engine. This 1952 model is fitted with the 3.4-litre straight-six engine, fed by two SU carburettors, mated to a four-speed manual gearbox. True to its original specification, this XK120 retains its chrome-spoked wheels and boasts ‘Matching Numbers’, certified by Jaguar. Originally from the United States, this XK120 rolled off the production line in May 1952. It was purchased new by an engineer from Philadelphia, who kept it for four years before selling it in September 1956 with approximately 30,000 miles on the clock. Its second owner used it regularly for nearly twenty years, mainly at weekends, before passing it on to his brother in Virginia at the end of 1975. The car was then used for leisure purposes for around ten years before being stored in a garage, where it remained carefully preserved for nearly seventeen years. In 2002, it was acquired by a collector who undertook a complete ‘frame-off’ restoration, covering the engine, chassis, bodywork, interior and soft top. This restoration, documented by an extensive photographic record and numerous invoices, was completed in 2005. Having covered only around 1,000 miles, the car was offered for sale in 2006 by Harwood Classic and Vintage Car, in Rochester, New York. Dr Henon purchased it on 10 February 2006. Since its arrival in France, this Jaguar XK120 has been regularly serviced at Garage Dessonnet in Mulhouse, a recognised specialist in vintage Jaguars. The maintenance is fully documented by invoices, with the most recent service dated 10 June 2025. Presented today in its superb ‘Old English White’ paintwork, paired with a soft top, tonneau cover and windows in beige, this XK120 features an elegant two-tone Tan/Bordeaux leather interior. Currently showing 67,023 miles on the odometer, it is in an excellent state of preservation with remarkable road handling. Regularly exhibited at motoring events, this tradition can be continued without any concern. Mechanical report: Please note that a detailed condition report has been carried out by a professional and is available on request.
