Description
1970 Alfa Romeo Spider Duetto Coda Longa 1300 French registration document Chassis No.: AR1672631 5-speed manual gearbox Mileage: 13,500 km (not guaranteed) Passed MOT The Alfa Romeo Spider Coda Longa, of which only 6,325 were produced between 1969 and 1970, represents one of the final evolutions of the first series known as the ‘Osso di Seppia’. Designed by Pininfarina, it perfectly embodies the elegance of late 1960s Italian roadsters, with a flowing, light and instantly recognisable silhouette. This Type 10591 version, originally configured as a 1300 Junior, has been mechanically upgraded with the fitting of a 1,750 cm³ engine producing 115 chevaux. This engine delivers a marked improvement in driving pleasure, responsiveness and performance, further enhancing the lively and endearing character of this Spider. The car on offer has a well-maintained service history, documented by invoices dating back to 2001, attesting to regular and thorough maintenance. A major mechanical overhaul was carried out in 2016, comprising a complete engine rebuild (replacement of pistons, connecting-rod bearings, valve stem seals, engine gaskets, crankshaft inspection, and overhaul of the oil pump), as well as an overhaul of the gearbox, including the replacement of the synchros and resealing. All of this now ensures sound and reliable operation. The bodywork also underwent restoration in 2004, documented by a photographic record, including the replacement of the sills and wing liners, as well as a complete repaint. The upholstery was refurbished in 2005, with the seats, soft top and interior trim all restored in a beautiful black imitation leather finish with matching piping. The interior retains all the charm of the era with its ‘Rosso Farina’ dashboard, Jaeger instruments, Alfa Romeo Bakelite steering wheel and typical details such as the Bakelite gear knob and the Becker Monte Carlo radio. It sits on its original 14-inch steel wheels with Alfa Romeo stainless steel hubcaps, fitted with Michelin tyres, and comes complete with a spare wheel, jack and battery terminal. This Spider strikes a fine balance between authenticity and reliability. With its exceptionally elegant design for a Spider, its more powerful engine and its thorough, well-documented restoration history, this Alfa Romeo Spider Coda Longa will be yours the moment you take the wheel.
