Description
1966 Sunbeam Alpine V8 260 MKI (Tiger) with hardtop French classic car registration document Chassis No.: B9473593LRO 4-speed manual gearbox Mileage: 8,477 km (not guaranteed) The original 302 CI 260 engine is supplied on a pallet. Passed MOT The Sunbeam 260 (Tiger), as it is known in France, boasts elegant styling combined with a powerful engine. To create it, Carroll Shelby applied the same formula as with the AC Cobra, with the help of his friend Ken Miles, by fitting a 260 ci (4.2-litre) Ford V8 into the Sunbeam Alpine. The example on display is one of just a handful of units built to continental European specifications, sold new in Paris, France, through the SIMCA network. This Tiger has undergone a complete bodywork restoration, carried out by L’Atelier Classique in Beaune after the vehicle was completely stripped down, and documented by a photographic record tracing the various stages of the work. The quality of this restoration leaves it looking just as it did when it left the factory. The mechanics have also been upgraded with the fitting of a Ford V8 302 ci engine producing around 300 chevaux, giving this lightweight sports car greater performance and character. The original 260 ci engine block has, however, been retained and will be supplied with the vehicle on a pallet, thereby preserving the car’s historical authenticity. It also features its original hardtop, its original steel wheels, and three boxes of original parts, which are included. The addition of a stainless steel exhaust system enhances the V8’s characteristic sound, revealing an unexpected mechanical personality behind its elegant British silhouette. Presented today with its charm intact, this Sunbeam Tiger offers a rare experience: that of a small British roadster powered by American mechanics, delivering sensations reminiscent of the AC Cobra in a more exclusive and accessible format. Technical report: Please note that a detailed condition report has been drawn up by a professional and is available on request. Private viewings can be arranged for customers who wish to see the car. Information regarding each vehicle is provided to us by the sellers, and we verify its accuracy. Logistical and administrative support is provided.
