Car maintained by Mr Pierre Nallet, a Maserati specialist for over 28 years.
Launched in 1975, the Maserati Merak SS is the most refined version of the Merak. Fitted with a 3.0-litre V6 engine producing 220 ch in a mid-rear position, it offers remarkable balance and a typically Italian character.
Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, this elegantly styled coupé draws inspiration from the famous Maserati Bora whilst offering a more versatile approach.
With only around 1,000 units produced, the Merak SS remains a sought-after model today for its rarity, timeless design and authentic driving experience. Long overshadowed by the Bora, it is now recognised by enthusiasts as one of the most endearing classic Maseratis of the 1970s.
This Maserati Merak SS was first registered on 21 February 1978 in Milan. It left the factory in its original Rosso Fuoco paintwork and, according to the information available to us, is believed to have had four Italian owners before being acquired by a German collector in 2015.
On 7 February 2025, it is being offered for auction by Artcurial in its original condition, without having undergone any restoration or extensive mechanical overhaul.
It was sold to Pierre Nallet, who carried out work to improve reliability and overhauled the entire mechanical system. The work carried out included, in particular, the reconditioning of the carburettors, an overhaul of the ignition system, oil changes, and the refurbishment of the braking system, the clutch and the fuel supply system.
Thanks to this work, this Merak SS retains all its original character whilst offering sound and reliable performance. However, there is still a spot of rust to be addressed on the front left floor panel.
It is now ready to hit the road and be fully enjoyed by its future owner.
