Description
1967 Mercedes 230 SL “Pagode” French classic car registration document Chassis No.: 11304210015385 5-speed manual gearbox Mileage: 20,483 km (not guaranteed) Passed MOT From the private collection of Dr Phillipe Henon Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 1963, the Mercedes-Benz 230 SL, quickly nicknamed the ‘Pagode’ due to the distinctive shape of its concave roof designed by Paul Bracq, is now regarded as one of the most elegant cars to come out of German production in the 1960s. Succeeding the 190 SL, the 230 SL marked the debut of the W113 generation and remains the most iconic version of the ‘Pagode’ line. It was later joined by two further models: the 250 SL and then the 280 SL. Combining elegance, reliability and driving pleasure, the 230 SL is now an undisputed benchmark amongst classic cars. Powered by a 2.3-litre straight-six engine producing 150 chevaux, paired here with a manual gearbox, it combines performance, comfort and reliability with remarkable ease of use. This particular car was purchased in New York in 2007 before being imported to France. From the moment it was acquired, this ‘Pagode’ has been meticulously maintained by Garage Dessonnet, a recognised specialist in the make. A comprehensive file of invoices, dating back to 1977 and carefully compiled by Dr Henon, will be provided to the buyer. Since its purchase, over 20,000 euros has been spent on maintenance and restoration. The odometer currently reads 23,000 kilometres, having been reset to zero in 2000. Following a cooling system issue in 2010, the engine underwent a complete overhaul at a cost of approximately 10,000 euros and has since covered only 4,000 kilometres. Now presented in its superb Signal Red (598 H) paintwork, in keeping with its original specification, this Pagode has been repainted in accordance with factory specifications. We should point out that the car was stripped down completely to carry out this bodywork, including rust treatment. With its hardtop, whose headlining has been completely refurbished, you can enjoy German reliability and elegance all year round. The original Becker radio still works, despite the addition of a modern radio in the glove compartment. Should it become too hot inside the cabin, the hardtop can be easily removed by two people to make way for a new soft top. This Mercedes 230 SL stands out for its provenance and meticulously maintained history, just like the rest of Dr Henon’s collection. Mechanical report: Please note that a detailed condition report has been carried out by a professional and is available on request. Private viewings can be arranged for customers who wish to see the car. Information regarding each vehicle is provided to us by the sellers, and we verify its accuracy. Logistical and administrative support is provided.
