Description
1976 Jaguar XJC 4.2L French classic car registration document Chassis No.: 2J51363DN 4-speed manual gearbox with overdrive Mileage: 8,109 km Passed MOT Introduced in the early 1970s, the Jaguar XJC is one of the most elegant interpretations of the famous XJ range. Unlike traditional saloons, it features a true coupé body without a B-pillar, a highly sought-after design that gives it a sleek, low-slung and timeless silhouette. The absence of a pillar between the windows recreates that unique sensation of a grand luxury coupé, typical of the exceptional cars of that era. With its refined design, long bonnet and luxurious interior, the XJC perfectly embodies the spirit of the great British GTs: a rare combination of comfort, elegance and driving pleasure. Produced in limited numbers, it remains one of the most sought-after Jaguars amongst collectors today. Our example is a 1976 Jaguar XJC 4.2-litre, fitted with a 4-speed manual gearbox with overdrive – a particularly rare configuration, as only around 150 examples are believed to have been produced in this version. This XJC has been meticulously maintained, notably by L’Atelier Classique in Beaune, to preserve its comfort and reliability. The headlining and seats have been completely refurbished, resulting in a particularly well-maintained interior. Four Michelin tyres have been fitted and the shock absorbers replaced to ensure excellent road holding. Both the bodywork and the chassis are in very good overall condition. With reliability and peace of mind in mind, the original automatic choke has been replaced by a manual system – an upgrade much appreciated by enthusiasts of this generation of Jaguars. With its 4.2-litre inline-six engine, its true coupé silhouette without a B-pillar and its rare manual gearbox, this Jaguar XJC represents a wonderful opportunity to acquire a car with all the attributes of a modern vehicle, plus the added bonus of 1970s elegance.
