Description
1952 Citroën Traction 15/6
Chassis 717440
French registration document
- Same owner since 1997
- A classic in the collection
When it was unveiled in 1934, the Citroën ‘Traction Avant’ marked a turning point in the automotive world. The technical features that make this car unique are as follows: monocoque bodywork, four-wheel independent suspension, water-jacketed engine, exceptional handling, low-slung and aerodynamic styling, front-wheel drive and hydraulic brakes. In short, the competition was left light years behind! Throughout its history, the Traction never stopped evolving, yet always retained its original appearance. The Traction was produced in several versions and with various body styles. The early models were powered by a 7 hp four-cylinder engine, which was later upgraded to 11 hp. The top-of-the-range version of this car was subsequently powered by a 15 hp six-cylinder engine. The Traction 15/6 was born. The available body styles were the coupé, the cabriolet, the saloon, the limousine and the estate.
Acquired in 1997, the example shown here features one of its most famous colour combinations: black paintwork and grey wheel rims. It had been owned since 1978 by an enthusiast from Seine-Saint-Denis. The bodywork shows signs of a previous restoration. The interior is also in good condition. A boot completes the original equipment. Mechanically, it will require some work to get it running again.
A classic in the collection, the 15/6 is now more accessible than ever.
