Description
1951 CITROËN 15/6 Chassis no. 707687 Engine no. PR 03844 French registration document Owned by the same family for 52 years Rare flat boot File of invoices dating from 1974 Less than 40,000 original kilometres A true icon of French motoring, the Citroën Traction 15/6 represents the culmination of the famous Traction Avant line, whose technical innovations have left a profound mark on the history of the automobile. Produced from 1938 onwards, the 15/6 version is distinguished by its remarkable straight-six engine, renowned for its smoothness, quiet operation and first-rate performance for its time. The example on display, dating from 1951, has been in the same family since 1974. It has known only two families and three departments: Puy-de-Dôme, Yonne, Paris… and of course a few churches! The first owner was an entrepreneur from Roubaix, probably in the textile industry. Passed down from father to son, between Paris and the Auvergne, it was bought from the son in 1975 by the father of the current owner, who was a friend of his. A diplomat, her father enjoyed driving it in the company of his friends from the ACF. It was to this very club on the Place de la Concorde that this car took them on their wedding day. Upon his death in 2010, it underwent rigorous maintenance by his first cousin, a banker and fellow ACF member, who already housed several classic cars in his barn. The ‘old lady’, as he liked to call her, was driven with metronomic regularity through the splendid valleys of the Yonne. As a result, she now has just 37,000 km on the clock, whilst her engine purrs to life instantly with ever-renewed vigour and enthusiasm, much to the delight of the family’s children and grandchildren. She has been meticulously maintained over the years. Its original interior is well worth a closer look. Its original mileage is 37,526 km, corroborated by its maintenance invoice records. It offers a pleasant drive, with a smooth gearbox and top-of-the-range braking for its time. With its elegant silhouette, sweeping wings and revolutionary low-slung profile, the 15/6 retains all its presence and appeal to this day. Long prized by senior civil servants, industrialists and frequent drivers, it symbolises the refinement and mechanical excellence of the post-war era. Appreciated by collectors for its relative rarity, exceptional driving pleasure and historical significance, this Traction 15/6 remains one of the most prestigious Citroëns from the pre-DS era. This car offers the opportunity to acquire an iconic model of French motoring heritage, equally at home at concours d’élégance and historic car rallies. This 15/6 is a rare flat-trunk model, with its original upholstery and low mileage, a major piece for any enthusiast of characterful French cars. 1951 CITROËN 15/6 Chassis No. 707687 Engine No. PR 03844 French registration certificate Owned by the same family for 52 years Rare flat boot File of invoices dating back to 1974 Less than 40,000 original kilometres A true icon of French motoring, the Citroën Traction 15/6 represents the culmination of the famous Traction Avant line, whose technical innovations have profoundly shaped the history of the automobile.
