Description
1980 CITROËN Mehari 4x4
Chassis no. 00CE0098
French registration document
- Rare 4-seater registration document
- Sought-after version of the Mehari
- Only 45,000 km!
In May 1979, Citroën unveiled the Méhari 4x4, featuring a spare wheel on the bonnet and rear disc brakes. Expensive to buy, sales were slow and production of the ‘4x4’ ceased in 1983 after only around 1,300 units had been made. It was one of the few 4x4s with independent suspension on all four wheels capable of tackling gradients of up to 60%.
Owned by a collector from Bordeaux since 2016, this Méhari 4x4 comes from the Ain department and has had only three owners. It has just 45,000 km on the clock and 141 hours of use on the transfer box. Its plastic bodywork was repainted by its previous owner, both inside and out. The engine and running gear were also serviced at that time. A file accompanies this fine Méhari 4x4, which still retains all its original components: chassis, bodywork…
A box replaces the rear bench seat, but this Méhari is indeed a rare 4-seater version, as confirmed by its registration document. Since purchasing it in 2016, our collector has driven his Méhari around the Arcachon basin, the ideal setting for this car. As he owns a second Méhari, he has used this one sparingly to preserve its pedigree.
The ultimate summer car, the Méhari is the very definition of a versatile vehicle, especially in its 4x4 version. So, to enjoy France’s beautiful beaches, don’t hesitate any longer!
