Description
1986 Renault Super 5
No reserve
Valid French registration document
Chassis number: VF1C4030100501868
- Formerly part of the 50 R5 collection
- Less than 88,000 km
- Rare automatic gearbox
Unveiled in autumn 1984, the Renault Super 5 took over from the legendary Renault 5, thoroughly modernising the concept that had made the French city car such a success during the 1970s
The example offered for sale has a unique history, having been part of the collection of 50 Renault 5s previously sold by our auction house in May. Affectionately nicknamed “Pauline” by its former owner, this Super 5 Automatic has recently been brought back to life by its current owner.
Its odometer reading, less than 88,000 kilometres, appears consistent with its overall condition. Presented in an elegant Schist Blue colour, this Renault retains an overall attractive appearance. A few age-related bodywork imperfections are worth noting, but overall it remains particularly clean for a popular car of this generation. The interior, meanwhile, is in good condition.
Mechanically, the carburettor will need to be tuned to optimise performance, whilst a general service is recommended before regular use. The MOT report indicates that a re-test is required for certain standard roadworthiness items, notably the lights, tyres and windscreen wipers.
Charming, simple and emblematic of the 1980s, this Renault Super 5 Automatic now presents an interesting opportunity for enthusiasts of French ‘youngtimers’.
