• Excellent restoration project.
• An iconic model from the brand with the star.
Introduced in the second half of the 1960s, the Mercedes-Benz 280 SE Cabriolet represents the final evolution of the W111 series in its open-top variant. Produced until 1971, it follows in the tradition of the great Mercedes-Benz convertibles, built to particularly high manufacturing standards and intended for a clientele seeking comfort, build quality and long-distance motoring. Based on the platform of the W111 coupés and convertibles, which differed from the saloons in the range, from 1968 the 280 SE was fitted with the 2,778 cc M130 inline six-cylinder engine, powered by Bosch mechanical fuel injection and developing 160 horsepower.
This particular example is in need of restoration. The car comes with its engine and retains its upholstery, providing a basis for restoration. A full restoration will need to be considered depending on the standard required by its future owner.
Designed under the direction of Paul Bracq, the W111 features balanced proportions and a silhouette characteristic of Mercedes-Benz models from this period. Its interior, designed to accommodate four occupants, is distinguished by a quality of manufacture and a level of finish in keeping with the brand’s standards of the late 1960s.
