Description
1985 PORSCHE 928 S
• French vehicle registration document
• Chassis number: WPOZZZ92ZF841976
• Porsche’s first GT: a revolution when it was launched
• The sought-after S version: 310 chevaux
• Same owner for 18 years
Introduced in 1979 as the first evolution of the standard 928, the 928 S is distinguished by a 4.7-litre V8 engine producing 310 ch, offering a significant improvement over the original version. It features the Transaxle system, with the gearbox and differential positioned over the rear axle, ensuring a weight distribution of almost 50/50 – a guarantee of exemplary balance on long journeys. It remains, nonetheless, one of the most accomplished GTs of its era, combining performance, comfort and refinement with a rare degree of coherence. It was further developed for the 1984 model year, gaining an additional 10 ch thanks to the switch to electronic fuel injection, before being replaced by the S4 in 1986.
The car on offer was delivered new in 1985 in Germany, then imported into France by Mr Da Costa in 2002. Its current owner has owned the car for over 18 years, and a file of invoices covering the entire period is available. This 928 S is well equipped: among the options fitted is the much-loved sunroof. The colour combination chosen – dark blue for the exterior and black for the interior – gives the car a understated and elegant look.
With approximately 287,000 km on the odometer, it displays a patina consistent with its mileage and history. The favourable MOT report shows that it has been looked after with care.
This Porsche 928 S offers the opportunity to acquire one of the great German GTs of the 1980s at a reasonable price.
