A small convertible ideal for getting started with a prewarcar. - No, in Alsace, Bugatti wasn't the only carmaker! Mathis was associated with Bugatti from 1904, building the first Pur Sang Type 6 and 7 (Hermès, Hermès-Simplex or Mathis-Hermès) until 1907. - After this joint venture, Emile Mathis and Ettore Bugatti founded their respective companies, with Mathis specialising in more popular vehicles, but they always kept in touch. - In 1921, the Mathis factories in Strasbourg covered an area of 90,000 m2 on a 15-hectare site. They manufactured everything from foundry parts to bodywork. The brand employed up to 15,000 people. - The first 6 CV Type PY were presented in July 1930. In January 1931, the car was fitted with a new 1.2-litre 32 bhp (compared with 28 for the PY) Type PYC engine.
