Description
1953 - JAGUAR XK 120 SE French historic registration title French historic registration title Chassis no. S674318 "Optimal performance for this rare SE "Optimal performance for this rare SE - The Jaguar XK 120, presented in 1948, promised a top speed of 120 mph and was carved by the wind, a veritable rolling sculpture. It was launched on the market in 1950, and in 1951 a more powerful version called SE (Special Equipment) was produced: the engine developed 180 bhp thanks to a different camshaft and a number of mechanical improvements. - This Jaguar XK 120 was put on the road in 1953, as the Jaguar Heritage Trust tells us, and was sold new to Jerry Rigden by the distributor Hoffman in Miami. There is every reason to believe that this was Rigden, the racing driver who raced the XK120 in the SCCA in '54, then in Kurtis Kraft and Moretti... A fine career followed in the USA. - Purchased by the current owner in 2017 from a major Belgian collection, even though the car had been fully restored a few years earlier, Mr M. has never ceased to lovingly maintain his mount, especially by using it for long-distance trips. His crews discovered Greece, Spain and Portugal. There was also a trip to Goodwood in England. All without a single breakdown. - For the past 9 years, the XK 120 has been serviced by a specialist, with recent expenses including a carburettor overhaul, work on the front axle and tyres, and optimisation of the stainless steel exhaust system. - Today, Mr M. has decided to pass on the torch of a car that he has loved so much and that he handles with brio. Our wind-in-the-hair test drive on the beautiful roads of the Centre region confirmed the car's good mechanical condition. This is an opportunity not to be missed: SE Roadster versions are rare on the market. - The Jaguar XK 120, unveiled in 1948, promised a top speed of 120 miles per hour and was sleek and aerodynamic, a true rolling sculpture.
