Description
1999 - Porsche 911/996 GT3 Supercup Competition vehicle sold without registration documents Competition vehicle sold without registration documents Chassis n° WPOZZZ99ZXS698063 An authentic Porsche racing car with a prestigious track record! An authentic Porsche racing car with a prestigious track record! - Since 1986, Porsche has won the loyalty of its customers, amateur and semi-professional drivers, by giving them access to one of the most spectacular single-model championships: the famous Carrera Cup; between 1998 and 2001, the 996 was used for this tough task! The Cup and Supercup were based on the production 996 GT3, with the Mezger Flat-6 (which had proved its worth in the 911 GT1, no less!) boosted to 370 bhp. - Our car was delivered new by Porsche Cars GB to Parrabolica McCullock Motorsport for driver Jonny Mowlem, who would go on to compete in the 1999 Pirelli World Supercup, which accompanied the Formula 1 Grand Prix! The car was seen at Monaco in May, Melbourne in March (3rd place), Spa-Francorchamps... In short, the car travelled the world before being bought by Michelin for advertising purposes in 2000. - The following year, it changed hands again, landing up with Andrew Baker, who drove it to 3rd place in the Bill Taylor Memorial race at Brands Hatch in 2001. In 2007, the car was bought by Dave Bennett, who decided to return it to its 1999 livery and took part in numerous circuit outings with it. The car was then maintained by Parr Motorsport and then by Historika, a world-renowned Porsche expert. - Our current collector bought the car in 2020 and spent around €50,000 to restore it to perfect working order and give it the ongoing, regular maintenance it deserves. Today, this car is in good working order and is being sold with a large file of invoices, photos, a 996 Cup Phase 1 spoiler and its characteristic exhaust system, which is considered too noisy for the demands of today's circuits! - The 996 Supercup is still under-priced, and has a bright future in historic racing. Our example has the advantage of a clear history, and is undoubtedly one of the most prestigious in production. This is an exceptional car that will allow you to enter the world of competition through the front door! - Since 1986, Porsche has built customer loyalty among amateur and semi-professional drivers by giving them access to one of the most spectacular single-model championships: the famous Carrera Cup.
