"A very rare, high-performance Vespa 160 GS, one of the brand's most sought-after models!
The Vespa 160 GS was launched by Piaggio in the early 1960s as a technical and aesthetic evolution of the famous Gran Sport series. At a time when Italy was reinventing urban mobility, the 160 GS combined enhanced performance with functional elegance.
The successor to the Vespa 150 GS, the 160 GS broke new ground with its larger displacement and refined details, while retaining the same philosophy of ease of use and clean lines. This model precedes the Vespa 180 SS (Super Sport), which will bring more power.
Before the arrival of the 150 and 160 GS, Vespa scooters were clearly geared towards purely utilitarian use. Now they offer qualities and performance that make them far more interesting to ride.
The model we are presenting belonged to the father of a good Italian friend of the current owner. According to the accompanying oral history, he bought it new.
Complete, it comes to us in lovely condition, with an old non-original paint job, and will be an ideal candidate for a competition restoration. The 160 GS is one of the most sought-after Vespa models, and this one deserves to be restored!
