Description
1963 - Lancia Appia Berlina Series III Chassis no. 102319 French registration "Very good general condition, recent major work carried out". Innovative and elegant, the Lancia Appia had three different body styles from 1953 to 1963. At the 1959 Geneva Motor Show, the third series could be recognised by its new rectangular grille, the hallmark of Lancia cars built under the reign of the firm's new owner, Carlo Pesanti. The Series 3 offered a remarkable compromise between comfort and performance thanks to a more powerful engine (48 bhp) with a new cylinder head, electric starter control, reinforced clutch, 14-inch wheels instead of 15, etc., making it the fastest in its category at 135 km/h. It also broke new ground with its dual braking system. Our example was sold new in Milan. It was in Lot-et-Garonne that the previous owner, a major Lancia collector, purchased it at the end of the 1990s. In beautiful original condition, it was entirely restored, taking care to preserve everything that could be preserved. It joined the collection of its current owner, also a keen Lancia enthusiast, in 2024. He gave our Appia a great deal of attention, including a complete restoration of the front end, the braking system, the carburettor and a general overhaul. This is a superb alternative to the - much more traditional - competitors, here in superb working order and presentation, for a price that couldn't be more reasonable!
