The Porsche 356 presented in these pages is a 1958 A model, equipped with the 1600 engine developing 60 bhp, here in its "Super" version, meaning with two carburettors, pushing the whole to 75 bhp.
According to its Porsche certificate of authenticity and datacard, this 356 was built by Reutter on 27 September 1957, then sold by Sonauto in Paris on 27 March 1958. As factory options, it was fitted with rare chrome wheels, Dunlop Super Sport tyres and 'Ponto-Stabil' mirrors.
Rediscovered in the USA in the early 2000s, its then owner, a great collector, carried out an absolutely extraordinary restoration over several years. As the engine was missing, a new one corresponding to the type series was installed. Despite a sound base, the bodywork was completely stripped and restored. Many photos can be viewed in the restoration file.
Back in France in 2020, it was imported by Villanueva Sport Auto and displayed in their showroom for some time before being sold to the current collector.
On test, the little Porsche proved to be agile and powerful even in today's urban traffic. This is an interesting opportunity for a collector looking for a 356 in concours condition, and in a very interesting version!
