Description
1998 - Ferrari 550 Maranello
Chassis no. ZFFZR49B000113252
French registration
"Delivered new by Pozzi, Lusso options and extremely rare luggage!
- Produced between 1996 and 2001, the 550 Maranello is now universally recognised as one of the most desirable Ferraris of the modern era. With its 485bhp naturally-aspirated 5.5-litre V12, six-speed manual gearbox and front-engined grand touring architecture, for many enthusiasts it represents the last truly analogue Ferrari V12.
- Ordered from Philippe Gardette, a highly regarded Ferrari specialist in Clermont-Ferrand, and delivered new to France by Charles Pozzi in Levallois in 1998, this Maranello has a particularly unusual provenance. Ordered new by its first owner, who personally visited Maranello to define the car's configuration, it has now returned to his hands after passing through two successive families. The second owner was Philippe Belou, a former engineer and close associate of Jean Rondeau at Le Mans. All the owners are fully identified and known, with details of the mileage covered by each of them.
- Configured with remarkable taste, it combines the very elegant Grigio Titanio colour with a dark brown Naturale 4480 leather interior. It also benefits from the two most prestigious options available in the Ferrari catalogue at the time: the 250 GT Lusso pack and the complete set of custom-made luggage, two items of equipment that are now particularly sought-after by collectors. It still has its original exhaust system, which has not given in to the trend towards louder pipes, often with a resonance zone in the most common range of use.
- Presented in a remarkable state of preservation, this 550 is strictly in its original paintwork, with only the front bumper having been reworked during its life. The interior appears to be particularly well preserved, and the original luggage set has recently benefited from a restoration of the interior trim, as the original was falling apart over time. Maintenance has always been carried out with the utmost care,
as evidenced by its service book and invoices since new. A major overhaul was carried out in December 2024, when the belts, air conditioning condenser and flat floor were replaced.
- Few modern Ferraris can boast such a comprehensive service history. This Maranello is accompanied by its original purchase invoice, its purchase order, period correspondence relating to its delivery, all its notebooks and manuals, its tool kit, its three sets of keys and an impressive history of invoices tracing its maintenance from the outset. This exceptional level of traceability further enhances the appeal of this model. Having just passed the 100,00 km mark, this 550 Maranello is a car for the discerning enthusiast who is not afraid to take it for another spin!
