Description
1966 - Lotus Seven S2 Chassis no. SB1841 French registration document Authentic Seven S2 fitted with a 1,498 cc engine featuring a Lotus-Holbay cylinder head. Complete mechanical overhaul costing over €12,000 in 2026. Engine currently being run in! Original chassis, documented history and still accompanied by its original V5 and Log Book! - More than just a car, the Lotus Seven is the purest expression of Colin Chapman’s philosophy. With its minimal weight, ultra-light chassis and total absence of anything superfluous, it remains one of the most radical sports cars ever put on the road. The Series 2, produced from 1960 to 1968, is now considered the most elegant and sought-after of the Sevens built by Lotus. - Chassis SB1841 is, as such, a particularly attractive example. An authentic Seven S2, it has retained its original chassis, which was carefully restored in the 2000s and is now in a remarkable state of preservation. Still accompanied by its British V5 certificate and its original log book, this car benefits from a particularly valuable provenance in the world of historic Lotuses, where fully documented cars are becoming increasingly rare. - Under the bonnet sits the sought-after 1,498 cc Ford engine fitted with a Lotus-Holbay cylinder head. Developing nearly 140 horsepower, this powertrain offers a simply spectacular power-to-weight ratio. With less than 550 kg to move, this Seven delivers performance and driving sensations capable of rivalling much more modern sports cars. To ensure its reliability and driving pleasure, it has recently undergone a major mechanical overhaul, including engine reconditioning, clutch replacement, refurbishment of the braking system and a complete rewiring of the electrical harness. - Aesthetically, this example stands out for its particularly fine presentation and the presence of numerous period features that are rarely preserved. The elegant, long front wings, fitted with their original position lights, are not modern reproductions but genuine period components. The original, curved rear wings also contribute to the car’s overall elegance, whilst the remarkably well-preserved original dials bear witness to the care taken in its upkeep. The two small bucket seats currently fitted reinforce its sporty character, whilst they can be replaced by a more traditional bench seat to allow easier access on board. - Carefully upgraded over the years without ever compromising its identity, this Seven now offers a rare balance between authenticity, performance and presentation quality. Combining an original chassis, valuable historical documentation, recently refurbished mechanics and a particularly attractive appearance, it is undoubtedly one of the most desirable Lotus Seven S2s currently available on the market.
