A historic racer with a renowned, high-performance engine, ready to win the historic race!
The Lucchini SN89 is an Italian prototype developed by Lucchini Engineering in the late 1980s. It meets the criteria of lightness, rigidity and controlled design and running costs. The SN89 was mainly used in hill-climbing and some endurance events.
From a technical point of view, the SN89 is based on a tubular steel chassis clad in fibreglass bodywork. The most common engine is an Alfa Romeo V6, generally with a 2.5 or 3.0 litre capacity, depending on the regulations and preparation.
Our example was driven by Giampiero Consonni in the 1990 European Mountain Championship. This chassis was also used by Fabio Magnani to develop his SP91, with which he competed in the 1993 Le Mans 24 Hours.
The SP91 features a Busso 3-litre V6 engine mated to a Hewland FT200 5-speed gearbox. Its lightweight Le Mans-style bodywork is fitted with headlights. Presented in good general condition, it has benefited from an overhaul, with the belts, water pump and clutch all replaced.
Even today, it is a regular participant in historic races, where it is appreciated for its lively handling and relatively affordable running costs for a prototype. Offered at an attractive price, this is an opportunity not to be missed!
