On 17 April 1964, Ford, the world's second-largest carmaker, presented its Mustang in New York, reinventing the automobile with the first of the pony cars, a sporty coupé that was the antithesis of the big, heavy, massive cars that had been typical of American production until then.
The Mustang was available as a hard-top coupé or convertible, then as a fastback from 1965. On its first day on the market, the car sold 22,000 units: history was in the making!
The car we are presenting here was built in 1968. It is a hardtop coupé powered by a Code C engine, a 289 ci (4.7-litre) V8 with twin carburettors.
It is still in its original configuration, with its attractive light blue Diamond Blue colour, matching the blue vinyl interior.
In good working order and with an up to date MOT, there are nevertheless a few body defects, corrosion spots, traces of welding on the rear boot, and a rather blurred steering (vintage power steering).
