History:
Georges Richard was a racing driver in his day; after developing bicycles with his brother, he turned his hand to car manufacturing. He began working with Charles-Henri Brasier, then in 1905 met Baron de Rothschild, with whom he founded UNIC Georges Richard. Around 1,100 cars of this type were built over three years, incorporating improvements of the time.
Subsequently, Mr Pigozzi bought the company, which was later incorporated into the Fiat VI and Iveco group.
Condition:
The model shown here was fully restored some time ago. All moving parts – the engine, gearbox and drive shafts – were dismantled and rebuilt. The bodywork components have also been refurbished and repainted; the wooden fittings, which form the essential structural supports of the whole, have been reworked and, for the most part, rebuilt. The soft top is, so to speak, as good as new. The fittings – the horn, air horn, headlamps, step surrounds and windscreen tilt levers – all made of brass and copper, are refurbished original parts; the leather straps are also in very good condition. This stunning ‘torpédo’ is exceptional and rare, representing a lost art of craftsmanship. Its 4-cylinder engine propels the car at a leisurely pace, yet without excessive noise.
This ‘torpédo’ is eligible for major pre-war rallies
